Our fourth.

We really didn't do anything special for the fourth. In the morning we went to see David's grandfather (who is 84 and sharp as a tack). He repairs all kinds of clocks. I have a mantel clock that used to belong to my parents, but now I have it. It's not a particularly pretty clock, but I really like it. I just like the chiming noise it makes. It hasn't worked properly for a while, and it's been in storage for the past 4 years almost. David asked his granddad if he could fix it, and he said sure! I really love David's granddad. Such a sweet man! While we were there, we were looking at his framed discharge papers from the army. He got discharged in 1945. He fought in WWII. He's seen and done so much in his life. He got a little choked up when we were talking about it. Here's a picture from the wedding when we danced. I couldn't keep up with him! Did I mention he goes line-dancing every weekend and stays out until the wee hours of the morning?!

After that, we decided to spend 6 hour shopping. Ack! We had to get a new feeder and waterer for the chickens, lots of stuff for our camping trip next week, and clothes for David and the kids. Oh yeah, and we also got paint to finish the chicken coop (which will hopefully be done later today), more tomato stakes for the garden, and I found a gallon of custom color paint at Lowe's marked down to $5! It's a pretty almost sea-foamy/Martha Stewart type green. Very pretty, and hopefully it'll look good in our bedroom. David is a skeptic. I'm a believer.

We did end up having David's parents over for dinner. We threw some pork country style ribs and dogs on the grill. Oh yeah, we also had watermelon!

Ok, let's switch gears. Enough cute puppyness.

So, I've been reading lots of blogs lately, and the bloggers always have cool give-aways. I want to have one too! I wish I could do awesome cameras or stuff like that, I give away something that some of you may like.

I'm going to give away some chicks!! No, not the live peeping-and-pooping kind. I'm going to give away this kind!

This Hens and Chicks is getting crowded, and I'd love to share some of the chicks with you! You could have your own piece of the very same plant I stole borrowed from the house we looked at buying. Look how much it's grown!

So, if you're interested in owning some chicks of your own, just leave me a comment! I think I know most of my readers, but in case I don't, leave me a link to your blog or some other way I can get in touch with you!

Oh, and not to bring you down, because I know how estatic you are about getting your very own Katiegirl chicks, but we had to put Miss Frizzle down last night. Poor girl just wasn't getting any better and I didn't want her to suffer anymore.

Hope you all had a great holiday!

Yay! I want some chicks! Do you think I can keep them alive? I'm good with veggies but not great with other plants. They're a succulent, right? Can you bring one next week?
Elmer is too cute :) Oh, Scooter, you're adorable too. (I assume he can read since he's so smart :) )
