Something is wrong with my computer.

I'm not sure what the deal is. It's either a problem with Blogger or my computer. I usually use Firefox as my browser, but it won't open so I'm having to use Internet Explorer. I can't move the pictures like I used to be able to, so that's why the garden picture is at the top of the post on my last entry. I'll have to do it for this entry also.

I just wanted to show you this honeysuckle I planted at the old house a few years ago. I was hoping it'd be blooming for the wedding, and boy is it ever! It is covered with blooms! And you know what I didn't even realize until I put these blossoms in the vase? They match my bridesmaid dress colors! Sweet!

I bought some veggie plants at Lowe's the other day. I got a two 9-packs of tomatoes (Rutgers and some other kind that I don't remember), a red bell pepper, a green bell pepper, a jalepeno and some other kind of pepper. I'm bad at remembering varieties. I planted them yesterday, along with row of swiss chard, a row of assorted squashes (yellow, green, and white), and two rows of cukes (pickling and regular). That's mostly everything for this year. I do still need to plant some lima beans, and I have room to add more corn and string beans for succession plantings. This is the part I hate...waiting for them to sprout!

5 Days Left

I think someone hit the fast forward button. Only 5 days? I came home and finished hemming Kylee's flowergirl dress. Aren't they cute? Becky did a great job sewing them! All I had to do was sew on the ribbons and hem one dress. One more thing done!

Remember the seeds I planted the other day? They're up and growing now!

Nasturtium:
Cosmos (one of my absolute favorites)

Sunflowers

Does anyone know what this is? It's trying to take over the hedgerow. It's everywhere. It has several different shaped leaves on the plant. I remember learning about it, but I can't remember what it is.

And it forms these catkin-like things.

We're getting ready to go to Sam's Club and buy a bunch of stuff for the wedding food. Then we're going to Walmart, Joann's, Staples, and maybe JC Penney. It's going to be a long night. :-)

One week left!!!

This time next Saturday I'll be a Mrs.!!!! Seems crazy! My dad came for a visit today and helped me put together the arbor for the wedding. I think we made a pretty good team, if I do say so myself. We got that baby put together and taken over to the wedding site. Check one thing off the list! What do you think of it?

I'm not sure if I want to decorate it or leave it plain. I love how rustic it looks, and I'd hate to ruin it with cheesy fake flowers. Maybe tulle? Or just plain? Any thoughts?

Here is a little building (I think the owner called it the smokehouse) at the ceremony site. I adore it. I'll definitely have to get pictures with it for the wedding. With it? Like it's a person or something.

Check out the irises around it!! And guess what else is planted there?!!

This little beauty and dozens more of her friends! And the best part? The owner said I could cut them to use in the wedding!!! Yipeeee!!!

Finally Friday!

This week seemed to drag on forever. I've had a hard time concentrating. This time next week I'll be arranging flowers for the wedding! There is still plenty left to do. I've got to put the finishing touches on the flower girl dresses that my sister made. The groomsmen's ties need to be made. I think one of my friends is coming over on Sunday to help with that. *A quick reminder--if you use the T9word shortcut when you text, make sure you proofread your texts first! I almost sent her a message that said "we'll have a sex fest" instead of we'll have a sew fest. That sure changes things, doesn't it?

Yesterday evening I planted some things in the garden. I got in 4 half-rows of corn. I'll wait a few weeks and plant the other half of the rows. Corn pollinates better in blocks rather than long rows. Hopefully we'll get some nice corn this year. And why is pollen spelled "en" and pollinate is spelled "in"? English is weird. I also planted a row of yellow stringbeans and one of green stringbeans. I'm not sure if I'll get more planted this weekend or not. It depends on how ambitious I feel.

Here are the chicken pictures! The lighting is a bit dim in the garage, so I can't get very good pictures. I'll have to bring the chicks on a field trip to the yard one day soon! Here is there new pen.
They're still pretty skittish, but they love to eat out of my hand.

And here's my favorite one. She's (I'm hoping it's a pullet) a frizzle bantam! I also have a black one, but s/he's not feathered out much yet.

I need a name for her (we're going to assume it's a "her" until we find out otherwise).

Making It Mine

I hate thinking of blog titles. That's only my third one and I already don't like them. :-) This past weekend was busy! I spent Friday night getting things together for a yard sale on Saturday. The whole town has a yard sale on one Saturday in May. It's pretty nice because you don't have to do any advertising. I made $25. Not bad. I still have a bunch of stuff left that we need to take to Goodwill.

Oh wait, I forgot about Thursday. I tilled up a strip in front of the garage and planted lots of flower seeds. I planted gladiola bulbs, sunflowers, zinnias, cosmos, Mexican sunflowers, and a few others I can't remember right now. I can't wait until they grow up and start blooming! I really think they'll look good in front of the garage.
Ok, back to Saturday. My friends Lindsay and Jenny came over. We were going to have a bridesmaid weekend! It's too bad my sister couldn't come up, but NC is a long way and it didn't make sense for her to come all the way when she's going to have to come back for the wedding anyways! They helped me get the chicks' pen set up in the garage. Finally they're out of the house and they love it! They're really growing too. I'll post pics of them tomorrow. We went out to dinner Saturday night, then went to play the slots at Dover Downs. We got kicked out after about 10 minutes because they thought some of our accessories were questionable. Darn! We went over to a little bar and hung out for the rest of the night. Sunday they helped me make a bazillion of Martha Stewart's tissue paper pom poms. That was a huge help! It would have taken me forever to do those by myself.

I spent Sunday afternoon getting the new flowerbed tilled and transplanting the dozens of plants from the old place. I was dead tired. It's looking really good, but now I have to get mulch to finish the job. I'll also show you pics of that tomorrow hopefully. Things are coming along! I definitely feel more at home now that I can do stuff to make it mine. I'll leave you with a shot of the livingroom! I'd love to get a slipcover for that loveseat and a nice big rug for the floor, but it'll have to wait until I have more time and money!

Progress

We're starting to see some progress around here! I'm in slight panic mode because my brain somehow forgot that moving can be such a long process. I thought three weeks from closing to wedding would be plenty of time. Well, we're still moving stuff and it's been almost a week! If we can just get the house unpacked and in order, I'll be more at ease and I'll be able to focus more on wedding stuff. Mom mentioned earlier that in just two weeks they'd be here! Whew. Lots to do before then.

Yesterday I went to the local furniture auction to find some tables and dressers. All the tables got snatched up for more than I wanted to pay. My favorite table happened to go for $90! Darn. I did manage to get two dressers for $20. I would have payed $20 for just the tall one, but they threw in the short one! The tall one is for our bedroom, and the short one is for Kylee's room. It even came with a cute little round mirror! I painted them white yesterday, but I haven't taken "after" photos yet. Kylee's dresser seemed to bleed through the paint somehow. The top looks kinda dingy, even with three coats of paint. I think I'll find some pretty fabric to lay over top of it!

Here they are:

Well, I better run. Dinner is on the stove and I don't want to burn the house down. :-)

My First Time

This is it. I've decided to venture into the world of blogging. I know I'll at least have one reader (my sister), but maybe others will decide my life is interesting enough to read about. My life is pretty busy right now, so I thought a blog might be a fun way to jot it all down and keep track of it! So what's going on to make my life busy? Well, my fiance and I just bought a house. Today is our anniversary. One week as homeowners! Oh yeah, and we're getting married on May 23rd! Only 16 days left! Hopefully I'll have more interesting posts in the future. I just wanted to start with something.
