Christmas Parade!
Last night was the annual Christmas Parade. The kids' 4-H Club made a float and participated in the parade. Our float had a gingerbread house, a giant popcorn cranberry garland (made of spray foam insulation and red plastic ornaments), and giant lollipops and ribbon candy. It turned out pretty nicely, if I do say so myself! It was a chilly night, but when you walk the entire parade route, you keep warm!

I thought I'd post some animal pictures since I haven't posted any in a while.
Barley is so photogenic. Even when she's covered in hay.
The sheep enjoyed a nice meal of hay and grain for Thanksgiving.
Lucky, the buck, was very interested in my camera.
Ida is so funny, her bottom teeth always show.
Ida was coming into heat, so Lucky was blubbering to everything. I got a video of some of it.

My Speckled Sussex rooster and one of his hens.
Kylee's doe, Snowflake, had 10 babies a few weeks ago. The babies are now hopping all around, eating pellets and hay and drinking water (in addition to nursing).
Our American Chinchilla, Marilla, is sure getting big. She's super friendly, and comes to the door for petting every time we open it.
Kiki, our outdoor cat, has been spending some time inside lately. I'd like her to get used to coming inside and get familiar with where the litter box is so when it gets cold out this winter she can stay inside overnight. Since Tucker (our other outdoor cat) passed away, I worry she's lonely. She really loves to snuggle with the dogs (and us).

Lamb Roast
A couple weeks ago we had a few friends over for a lamb roast. We butchered 3 of our lambs, and decided to roast one. We had it quartered, and roasted it along with one of the Boston butts from the pig we raised a couple years ago.
Our good friend Mark came over that morning and helped David get a good fire going so they could roast the meat. Of course it was supposed to rain, so they fashioned a roof out of a sheet of metal. It worked perfectly!
The meat was delicious, and the rest of the food was too. We all had a great time, and the best part of the day was probably the bonfire at night.

Felted Soap
I've been felting soaps lately, and I forgot how much fun it is coming up with colors and designs. I hope to have some soaps in the shop very soon!
Pax River Appreciation Days
I'm way behind on blogging, so I'm going to try to do some catch-up posts. How did I miss the entire month of October???
A few weeks ago we took a trip to St. Mary's to visit my Dad and Lisa. On our way down, we stopped at Patuxent River Appreciation Days, which takes place at the Calvert Marine Museum. We used to go to this as kids, and we always built our own boat. I thought it'd be fun for the kids to do that too!
My finished boat.
We also got to tour the Drum Point Lighthouse. It's so neat to go up the narrow ladder, through a hole in the floor. There's quite a bit of space inside the lighthouse itself. There are three levels, and the light is in the very top level. I didn't get a picture of that, because it was too crowded when I wanted to go up there.
We also took a few minutes to walk through the museum, which was neat.
When we got back to Dad's and Lisa's house, we tested our boats in the pool. They are sea worthy!
We had a fun trip, and it was nice to share some things with the kids from my childhood.
