Waaaaay back in June David and I (along with a couple of friends) drove to Florida for a friend's wedding. I blogged part one over a month ago! I have been putting it off because there are so many pictures and I didn't want to go through them all, but I finally had some extra time and wanted to get it done. I love looking back at previous blog posts, so I wanted to document this trip since we had so much fun. It was mid-June, but feels like so long ago!
After we left Savannah, we headed south. Our destination was Jensen Beach, Florida. We were staying at a place called River Palm Cottages and Fish Camp. After about 8 hours in the truck, we made it down. What a cute place!
They had the cutest little cottages, all painted in bright Florida colors.
Ours was pink!
The inside was pretty cute, too. Lots of different colors, which I loved. The living room even had a fishing rod holder on the wall. It is a fish camp, after all!
There was a teensy little dining area, and a small kitchen with a microwave, stove, and fridge. What else do you need?
This was our bedroom. It had a bathroom to the left. I didn't get a picture of the second bed/bath. We originally had a 2 bed/1 bath cabin, but got upgraded to this one since they needed certain cabins rented for the wedding. It was very nice that each couple had our own bed/bath.
Like I said in the Savannah post, I loved seeing all of the different vegetation! Plants are so cool in Florida!! There were palms of every size and type.
And there were fruit trees!! Can you guess what this tree is below?
A mango! There were several mango trees around the camp.
Not sure what this is, but it had pretty purple flowers on it.
This is a sea grape. I kept seeing these all over, and finally I asked someone what they were. I love them, and wish we had them around here.
Close up. I just love the leaves!
Little anole lizards were everywhere! They scurried all around.
The camp was right on the Indian River Lagoon. The view was amazing. The beach was very tranquil.
If you look in the background below, you can see one of the bridges that goes over to the barrier island, where historic Rt. A1A runs along the coast.
The view of the dock, one quiet morning.
This is the view looking back at the fish camp. There's a cute little cabana, and the wedding tent next to it. You can see where the chairs were set up on the beach for the wedding ceremony.
This is a Dragon Fruit. Weirdest fruit ever! The lady in the office said people sneak onto the property and steal them.
Grapefruit!
Limes!
Bananas!
Not sure what this is, but the leaves are sweet.
Ok, that's enough for part 2. More to come later!
