Squirrely

David found a little baby squirrel at work one day, with no other squirrels or trees around.  He put it out in the shade and walked away, and it followed him.  So without any other options, he found a cardboard box and put the squirrel in it with some water and a pecan (donated by a coworker).  The squirrel immediately chowed down on the pecan.  When it was time to come home, the squirrel was still there, so he brought it home.

It was so cute!  I fed her some water and then goat milk. I knew I didn't have the time or proper facilities to raise a baby squirrel, so I called a few wildlife rescue people and hoped to get a call back. I fed her every hour or so, and she quickly learned to drink from the syringe.

I took this little video.  How cute is she?
Around 8pm, I got a call back from one of the wildlife rehabilitators. She said she would be glad to take her, and had several other squirrels around the same age (around 5.5 weeks).  She was able to meet us about 20 mins away so we could do the transfer.  I enjoyed feeding her, but I'm so glad she's with the rehab lady now.
